The Daily Graphic writes on how carnage on the road can be prevented. According to the paper, an intended exercise by the Ministry of Transport to clamp down on cargo vehicles which have been converted into passenger vehicles must be supported by all to minimize accidents on the roads. It says, sometime in 2007, there were numerous accidents which claimed many lives. The reason was a default in the brakes systems of the Mercedes Benz 207 bus which is built as a cargo vehicle. Frantic efforts were then made by the security agencies to seize such vehicles. The Graphic regrets that two years down the line, the nation is confronted with the same problem resulting in fatal accidents. The paper then demands from the licensing authority why cargo vehicles get registered to carry passengers.

The Ghanaian Times is worried about reports by the Ghana National Fishermen Council that some government functionaries are interfering in the administration of the premix-fuel. According to the Council, these government officials and politicians have hijacked the Landing Beach Committees set up to manage the pre-mix fuel distribution. The Times says while it may be easy for officials to reject the allegations by the fishermen as politically motivated, it advises against such political interferences. It is the view of the Times that the situation could lead to an increase in the price of pre-mix fuel as well as its shortage which could only benefit party officials and government functionaries.
