Ghanaians Will Not Tolerate the Railroading of Bills Through Parliament Ever Again

The ordinary people of Ghana have always been underrated by our nation's hard-of-hearing ruling-elites - yet since their pivotal-vote-casting in the pre-independence colonial-era elections of 1951, 1954 and 1956, they have made watershed-moment-choices that saved their country from those who seek ends that are inimical to the longterm interests of Mother Ghana.

The skirt-and-blouse elections of 2020, saw the same pivotal-vote-casting by ordinary Ghanaians, to prevent the railroading of bills inimical to the longterm interests of Mother Ghana, which the executive branch of government, has routinely been engineering through Parliament, since the 1992 Constitution was promulgated. It has happened under all our 4th Republic's Presidents, sadly.

It is thus understandable to see the frustration of Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the present regime's lead-person in the current Parliament, tasked to get bills (that don't redound to the welfare of ordinary people, and are inimical to the longterm interests of Mother Ghana), railroaded through a hung Parliament, in which, by definition, neither the President's party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), nor the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), have a numerical advantage. It is a Sisyphean-task that cannot be fulfilled. Full stop. Case closed.

However, if Ghanaian democracy is to survive, and thrive, it is vital that members of our nation's political class, of the ilk of the cynical and holier-than-thou Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsus, understand clearly that finally the game is up - and that there is no way ordinary Ghanaians will tolerate passage of bills through the current Parliament, with the Right Honourable Alban Sumani Kingsford Bagbin, as Speaker (whom God Almighty gave to the nation, in its hour-of-extreme-need, in order to help strengthen our much-weakened legislative branch of government), that are inimical to the longterm interests of Mother Ghana.
