Black Star skipper, Stephen Appiah skipped training this morning as a result of an injury during the Black Stars game against The Teranga Lions of Senegal in Port Said Yesterday.
Appiah who played a great game was subtituted in the 90th minute,after challenges from Ferdinand Coly and Habib Beye.
According to team doctor Martin Engmann, Appiah would have to go for a scan to determine if the Fenerbache star has suffered a crack fracture foot injury. . "He has a right foot injury and we hope the scan will rule out a crack fracture which could keep him out for six weeks," said the doctor Saturday. He however gave ghanaians assurance that the skipper would be fit against Zimbabwe. The Black Stars will need to win against Zimbabwe to qualify for the next stage of the tournament Appiah who was voted best player of the match against Senegal was impressed with the perfomance of the team. However, the cheering news for the Ghana camp is that Roma defender Sammy Kuffour returned to training Saturday morning after a thigh complaint kept him out of the match against Senegal. "I'm feeling a lot better," he said. Team officials said he has been advised to play cautiously during training so that the injury does not act up again.
