The Director-General of the National Sports Authority, Honorable Robert Sarfo Mensah, has revealed that the Accra Sports Stadium would return to Ohene Gyan Stadium.
“Ohene Gyan was a great sportsman and will not be bad to name the Accra Sports stadium after him. My office will support it”. Robert Sarfo Mensah emphasized.
He further disclosed that to rename Accra Sports Stadium lies with the sports ministry and government indicating that he does not have the power to rename the stadium.
“Ohene Gyan did well for the nation and I don’t know why this should be politics as the government keep on renaming the stadium. I will push for the renaming of the Accra Sports Stadium after Ohene Gyan again together with the board,” he said.
The National Stadium, Ohene Gyan stadium was reverted to its formal name Accra Sports Stadium by the government.
