Ghana Captain Asamoah Gyan Scoops Peace Award

Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah, a former Minister of Trade and Industry, has been honoured at the Ghana Peace Awards 2017, for his outstanding contribution towards the promotion of peace in Ghana and Africa.

The Ghana Peace Award recognises leaders who take on challenges for the greater good, encouraging the next generation of leaders that have genuinely excelled in various spheres of life and have contributed to the advancement of Ghanaians and Africans.

The award maintains the highest ethical and leadership platforms in Ghana over the years.

The event, which took place in Accra, had other awardees such as the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama, who was honoured posthumously for his contributions towards peace in Ghana and Africa he met his untimely death at Denkyira Obuasi.

The award was received by his widow, Barbara Mahama.

Others awardees were Reverend Professor Immanuel Agbozo, the Founder of the Ghana Evangelical Society and Enoch Mission; Mrs Charlotte Osei, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission; Dr Kotei Djani, Chief Executive Officer, Groupe Ideal; Dr John Kudalor, a former Inspector General of Police; Mr Ben Brako, a musician and Prophet Dr Cephas Kwame Kpegah Tamakloe, General Overseer, Breaking Yoke Ministry.

The rest are Mr Asamoah Gyan, the Captain of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars; Mr Kwesi Pratt Jr, Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper; and Dr De-gaulle Moses Dogbatey, Chief Executive Officer OF Medi-Moses Prostate Centre.

Dr Sio-Garbrah, who received the Humanitarian and Service Award, in his remarks, lauded the organisers of the event for recognising his contributions towards the advancement of the course of humanity.

He urged Ghanaians to preserve the peace and stability of the nation; adding that instability and lack peace drive away potential investors from the country.

Prof Emmanuel Yao Nash of the Ghana Peace Awards expressed their gratitude to all who worked to protect and promote fundamental human freedoms.
