Ghana Black Stars assistant captain and West Ham United midfielder Andre Ayew had a part to play in the match against his club and Chelsea Fc at the Olympic stadium.
The match ended 2-1 in favour of West Ham United. Goals from Cheikhou Kouyate and Edimilson Fernandes in the 48th and 63rd minute respectively secured the home side a win, which has catapulted them to the next round of the English League Cup. Gary Cahill had the consolation goal for Chelsea on the 90th minute mark, but it wasn’t enough to take the game to extra time.
On the night the West Ham fans had two things to jubilate about, the win and the return of their club’s most expensive player, Andre Ayew.
Ayew, 26, had an injury against Chelsea in his debut game, in the first week fixture of the 2016/2017 season which ended 2-1 against west ham.
Surprisingly Ayew makes his return against the same team, Chelsea, and this time the game ended 2-1 for west ham united in the league cup match. Ayew replaced Manuel Lanzini in the 78th minute.
It is a major boost for Ghana as Ayew will be ready to play in the world cup qualifier between Egypt and Ghana on the 13th November 2016.
