FIFA Technical Study Group (TSG) director Jean-Paul Brigger has praised the tactical organization of the Black Stars at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Ghana, who exhibited a great team ethic backed by skill and speed reached the quarter-final stage, bowing out on penalties to Uruguay.

After the competition, the TSG identifies and examines the latest trends in the game with the aim of promoting the game's global development.

Brigger, when asked about Ghana's World Cup run which almost earned an African nation a semi-final representation, the TSG head who rued the unfortunate exit, explained that Milovan Rajevac's team organization was superb.

"Ghana were superbly organised and set up to counter-attack at speed. Every player knew exactly what he had to do. Their U-20s won their World Cup in Egypt in 2009, and a number of those players went to South Africa," Brigger said.

"And Asamoah Gyan is an outstanding striker, who unfortunately ended up as the tragic hero of the tournament. If he'd converted his penalty in the quarter-final against Uruguay, he'd have gone down in history. But it was just another illustration of the fine line between joy and despair."

The TSG has published an exhaustive analysis of the 2010 FIFA World Cup with the document and an accompanying DVD made available to the governing body's 208 member associations.
