Hearts Goalie, Coach Come Under Fire

Accra Hearts of Oak may have won their 16th week premiership tie 3-2 against Tema Real Sportive on Monday but their poor second half display forced their followers to leave the Ohene Djan Stadium in disappointment.

Little surprised they vented their anger on the team, especially goalkeeper Laud Quartey whose indecision presented Sportive an opportunity to pull a goal back.

With three goals in their basket and all going well for them, the phobians expected a cricket score line but that was not to be as they allowed the determined Sportive side to claw back to cancel two of the goals.

The pressure on the phobians became unbearable as Sportive made last minute rallies to snatch a late equaliser but the Hearts defense men stood their grounds.

Having sat on tents hooks for greater parts of the second half and the referee’s final whistle coming as a relief, the fans charged on the team with insinuations directed at the young goalie.

In the view of the Hearts fans, Quartey’s misjudgment was unpardonable and that gave the Tema based side the strength to fight back like they did.

They accused the goalie of becoming complacent after enjoying the number one spot in their recent matches.

In a friendly match against All Blacks less than a fortnight ago, Quartey presented the swedru magicians a similar chance to cancel an Ishmael Addo leader later in the game.

That, coupled with last Monday’s error was what incurred the wrath of the fans who indicated their unreadiness to entertain what they termed a scrappy performance.

But the heat was not on the unfortunate Quartey alone. Some Members of the technical team had their fair share of the blame for not fielding some of the new players registered during the premiership break.

The fans wondered why the technical team kept a player like kweku Essien out of the match since he has enough experience to bring to bear on the team.

Hearts registered Charles Taylor, Essien, Ishmael Addo, Gado Mohammed, Obed Ansah and Ebo Sam but only the former, the three-time goal king, Ishmael Addo featured in their 16th week encounter.

The Phobians travel to Wa on Sunday to face the might of All stars who they defeated 3-0 at Ohene Djan Stadium in the first round.
