Cup of Nations Dr Kofi Amoah releases 8 years plan to save Ghana football after horrendous AFCON campaign
JAN 25, 2022 LISTEN

Former Normalization Committee chairman, Dr Kofi Amoah has revealed his plan to save Ghanaian football after the horrendous 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Cameroon.

The Black Stars were chasing to end the country's 40 years trophy drought were bundled out of the campaign after finishing 4th with points in Group C.

Ghana suffered a humiliating 3-2 defeat to debutants, Comoros in their final group game.

Dr Amoah, who is a well respect business mogul is also a well-respected football administrator.

In a tweet, Dr Amoah said, "A DREAM REVITALIZED. Let's make it REAL and save our football… Enjoy the beautiful story below, and let's keep exchanging ideas. This is mine, what’s yours?"

Dr Amoah’s 8-year plan is summarized as follows:

  • Suspension of national team activity to save millions of dollars (2022)
  • The money saved is invested in football infrastructure and training (2022-24)
  • Quality of football improves resulting in more interest in the league and financial rewards (2024-26)
  • Ghana has one of the best leagues and national teams in the world and will win an AFCON (2026-30)

Though ambitious, this plan will likely be popular as the Black Stars’ popularity is the lowest it has been for 20 years in the wake of their disappointing AFCON 2021 campaign.
