The newly created Asokwa Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti region held its first sessional meeting to discuss the annual action plan for the year 2018.

In his maiden address, the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Mr. Akwanuasa Gyimah, commended President Akuffo Addo and the assembly members for giving him the nod to steer the affairs of the municipal assembly.

He said it was imperative for the assembly to strategise and reposition itself to partner the central government and other development agencies to carry out people-centered programmes such as the One District-One Factory, One District-One Warehouse, One District-One Million Dollar Capital Project Fund, Planting for Food and Jobs among others.

Mr. Akwanuasa Gyimah cited lack of staff accommodation, logistics, desilting of storm drains and youth unemployment as areas which needed urgent attention.

He consequently appealed for the cooperation of all for effective implementation of policies geared towards the development of Asokwa. "In view of this, l call on both indigenous and foreign investors to turn their attention to Asokwa to establish industries for it to regain its past glory in order to create job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youth in the area" Mr. Akwanuasa Gyimah stressed.

The MCE announced the assembly is weighing the options of rehabilitating and converting Ahinsan Post Office, Brewery and State Housing Blocks to permanent offices of Asokwa Municipal Assembly.
