Should I Say Kwesi Nyantakyi Is A Stupid Crook With Anas' Exposé No. 12 Serving Him Right?

Feature Article Should I Say Kwesi Nyantakyi Is A Stupid Crook With Anas' Expos No. 12 Serving Him Right?
JUN 22, 2018 LISTEN

Corruption is so ingrained in many a Ghanaian that any chance he/she gets as a Civil Servant or a government appointee, they want to fleece the system. Therefore, in our quest to rid the nation of the institutional corruption masterminded and orchestrated by our very politicians and leaders of all sorts in whom we entrust our welfare, security and safety, we welcome any means that will flush them out regardless of it being lawful or otherwise.

From a publication on Ghanaweb headlined, “Anas finally replies Ken Agyapong and explains his GFA exposé video” as found under their General News of Saturday, 16 June 2018, and under the web link below, I should think Kwesi Nyantakyi is not smart but a stupid crook in pursuit of quick buck.

From what Anas is saying as could be verified from his speech recording, he and his team met Kwesi Nyantakyi at the airport and followed or took him to his (Kwesi Nyantakyi's) hotel. Just on arrival, he, Kwesi Nyantakyi, started opening up to them about how he can scam investors to enrich himself with the investors also being capable of scamming the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to make more money for themselves.

Anas claims to have had prima facie about him and all those investigated by his Tiger Eye in his Exposé number 12. Prima facie means having a piece of evidence or as defined in the Cambridge dictionary “at first sight (= based on what seems to be the truth when first seen or heard)”.

As an undercover investigator, he might not have introduced himself to Kwesi Nyantakyi as being Anas. How come then that Kwesi Nyantakyi opened up to strangers in a manner as reported by Anas if he were not a typical stupid person who has outgrown his intelligence and wisdom?

Who arranged the investors for Kwesi Nyantakyi and who proposed that the investors do part with the US$65,000 to him, Kwesi Nyantakyi? Was it Anas or when they met the investors Kwesi Nyantakyi himself asked for that payment or the investors themselves proposed that offer to him? Were the investors genuine persons who never knew they were being scammed by Nyantakyi or they had foreknowledge of the scheme?

From the BBC Guidance on Undercover Investigations as cited by Anas, the following is what it says among many other things; “Secret Recording Approval. Secret recording planned for the project should be given formal approval using the established procedures. The cover story or any invitations to targets designed to encourage them to talk should be carefully thought through, avoiding any unjustifiable entrapment”.

It is good for Anas to hunt corrupt officials. However, who does he work for and who gives him the formal approval? I have asked him questions in my previous publications so I shall not repeat same questions here.

I am happy to learn from him that he accepts criticisms and he does not expect the public to swallow whatever he puts out in the public domain hook, line and sinker. To swallow something "hook, line and sinker" ' is an idiomatic expression used to describe a situation where a person or group accepts wholesale and uncritically an idea or set of beliefs”. It is through constructive criticisms that we can get the best out of people including Anas. Therefore, all those who think Anas' methodology if it included entrapment should not be criticised are now proven wrong.

I hope Anas and his team will not be found wanting when subjected to public scrutiny. For the fact that he appreciates criticisms and does encourage the public to do so makes him a gentleman. We learn from our mistakes hence if he had made any mistake, I hope he will learn to correct them in his future exposés without giving room for any further criticisms.

Has he any thing recorded on galamsey where it was rumoured that some powerful chiefs would be affected? Kwesi Nyantakyi wanted easy money but the easy way of acquiring his wealth has rather culminated in his easy exposure and loss of job with possible prosecution and conviction. It serves him right!

Lest I forget, Anas questions that his style of catching corrupt officials has always been the same but why is it now that people are questioning or criticising him on that of Kwesi Nyantakyi? My answer to him is simple. It is now that people have become aware of the need to subject his method to scrutiny to avoid possible breaches of the law. To cite as an analogy, has he ever heard of pharmaceutical companies withdrawing certain drugs from sale or the market after many years of selling them to the public? Is it not because of coming to discover some dangers associated with the drug? Tramadol tablets/capsules had been legally prescribed by medical doctors to patients to soothe their pain. Why is it that all of a sudden it has become a prohibited drug? Anas and the public must answer me.
