Rap Wars: What Eminem Said…

Rap Wars: What Eminem Said
LISTEN

The single award winning track titled 'LIKE TOY SOLDIERS' was part of 'white' rapper Eminem’s 5th album (named Encore).

The song released was in 'begging' response by Eminem (a.k.a 'Em') to 'feuding factions of the rapping fraternity' and asking his colleagues and 'cliques' to stop fighting intra/ inter gang wars.

Apparently, Em came out with the song after his best friend D12 was shot dead somewhere around April 11, 2006!!!

For the sake of fairness and honor, let me mention that other YOUTHS killed in similar circumstances include Notorious BIG, Tupac, BIG L, BUGZ, &BOB Marley.

My purpose in presenting this background is to develop a firm foundation from history necessitating the conclusion I’m now to suggest.

In the song titled ‘Like Toy Soldiers’, Em had a phrase in his lyrics that I wish to quote and conclude with.

He said: ‘…I’M NOT GONNA LET SOMONE ELSE COFFIN REST ON MY CONSCIENCE...'!!!

As we journey through today, as we inch towards Ghana’s elections, as we strive to build healthier friendships and relationships, my rhetorical question to each of us is:

'...whose coffin(s) is/ are rested or would rest on our conscience...' or ‘whose/ what blood would we be guilty of’?

‘LIKE TOY SOLDIERS’, let’s diligently follow the orders of the Biblical ‘Golden rule’:

‘do unto others as you would want others to do unto you’
