Ahmed’s Assassination: CenVI-GH Wants International Independent Experts to Unravel Perpetrators

The Centre for Victims of Injustice, Ghana (CenVI-GH) has wage into the gruesome murder of the investigative journalist calling for the involvement of international experts, with full access to evidence and witnesses to arrest the perpetrators.

Ahmed Hussein-Suale, was one of Tiger Eye Private Investigative journalists was shot three times, twice in the chest and once in the neck by gunmen riding motorbike late Wednesday night, January 16, 2019 at Madina in Accra while driving home.

CenVI-GH, in a statement signed by Felix Engsalige Nyaaba, Executive Director /Founder, said the arrange assassination of the investigative journalist is an affront to democracy and free freedom.

The Centre noted that Ghana has been universally acclaimed as respecter of human rights and an icon of peace, law and order and political stability.

“We must do everything possible to safeguard this enviable record entrusted to the government by the citizenry,” it added.

The Centre is calling on the President, H.E. Nana Akufo Addo, to exercises his authority to end this dastardly act which is spreading widely across the country.

CENTRE FOR VICTIMS OF INJUSTICE; STATEMENT ON THE MURDER OF AHMED HUSSEIN SUALE OF TIGER EYE PI

The Centre for Victims of Injustice, Ghana (CenVI-GH) has learnt with shock and dismay, the grisly murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, which occurred on the 16th of January, 2019 at Madina Municipality, in the Greater Accra region.

Ahmed Hussein was a key member of the Investigative Team of Tiger Eye, headed by ace investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, that fight corruption and other organised crime against humanity.

Ahmed was without any provocation attacked and killed whiles driving home in his car at Madina by two assailants on motorbike.

We condemn this act of cruelty and brutality in no uncertain terms, and call on government to as a matter of urgency, explore all legal and legitimate means to bring the perpetuators to book.

For an investigation to be carried out free of any appearance of political considerations, the involvement of international experts, with full access to evidence and witnesses, would be highly desirable.

While commiserating with the Tiger Eye PI on this sad loss, we entreat them to continue to remain calm as the matter is being investigated. We also wish to express our sincere and heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family, especially the parents, siblings, wife and children.

CenVI-GH, however wish to take this opportunity to call on the President, H.E. Nana Akufo Addo, to exercises his authority to end this jungle justice which is spreading widely across the country.

Ghana has been universally acclaimed as respecter of human rights and an icon of peace, law and order and political stability. We must do everything possible to safeguard this enviable record entrusted to the government by the citizenry.

Attack on Journalists cannot silence the media. May the soul of Ahmed Hussein and all faithful departed rest in perfect peace.
