A letter to current and former bullied students

A letter to current and former bullied students
07.01.2019 LISTEN

A letter to those who were maltreated at school:
Sticks and stones broke your bones,
Words definitely did hurt you.
No you weren't weak.
You were human.
Yet nobody saw you as a victim.
Your pain hurt you,
Not them,
You were told.
Let it go,
Stand up,
Fight back,
If you could,
You wouldn't be you.
Bullied.
You began to believe,
It was your fault.
They forfeited,
Having humanity,
As humans. ( Tuntum Nahana Akosua)
I know everyday as a child, you were ashamed of your existence. You spent all your time wishing you could be loved by your peers like them. You wished you were them, because being you meant a life of pain. You felt like nothing at a tender age, nobody cared or listened. You lived in constant fear of your unruly and mean classmates. They enjoyed your sadness and used it for comedy. You learned your feelings were unimportant. You started to believe you were inhuman and not worthy of affection. You longed to belong, but everything you did was fruitless. You believed the world was not yours to have as your oyster. I know you were devastated.

If you are still in school being bullied know you are not alone. If your child is being bullied make them know they are not alone. They are loved and they are special. Make sure you cause a scene at the school demanding that the bullies are harshly dealt with. Do not jeopardise your childs future. For the children at school stay far away from the bullies, be brave and tell your parents, let them read my article and cause a scene. Being nice wont solve the problem. Children do not feel its your duty to forgive and force yourself to be friends with your bully. Do not think its ok for people to abuse you, you dont have to tolerate them. Go to school, keep being yourself, because thats who you were created to be and make sure you focus on your dreams and excel. They are not worth your future. Keep telling yourself positive things about yourself, by doing so your self confidence will rise and you will realise the bully is nothing more than a bitter soul. Who is not worthy of your attention and if anyone should hate themselves for being a lesser human, it should be them. You certainly don't want to be an giver of misery in the world.

For the adults who are still suffering becase of the bullying they experienced at school. Take heart, it was never your fault. You deserve a great life, filled with beauty and wonder. Try to forgive the bully for your own peace of mind and release them from your heart. Focus on being the person you aim to be and go for your dreams. If those nasty people are allowed to live a good life. Determine you deserve lifes treasures even more. Excel, excel, excel and know that you are so special for surviving what most could never in their childhood. You were your own hero as a child, and you survived all they tried to do to you. You are so strong, so brave for being yoursef, when you could have easily followed a mean crowd. Use this pride in your resillience to believe that you can make it through anything. That you can achieve your dreams. I encourage you to find positive triats in yourself, denouce the words of idiots who had nothing to offer but malice. Seek the words of good people with admirable triats and see what they speak over your life, and I hope you begin to speak noble and kind words to yourself. As well as stop repeating the words of those fools over yourself. Tell yourself the positive things you have always wanted to hear.

I am proud of you for all surviving. Remember God loves you, you are loved by good people. The bullies dont deserve to ruin your life with their ugly character.

Lots of love,
Tuntum Nahana Akosua
