Ghanaian Peacekeepers Hold Health Screening For South Sudan Inmates

A Civilian Military (CIMIC) delegation from the Ghanaian Battalion serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS)has organised a free health screening and medication exercise for 64 inmates at Bentiu Prison.

The exercise led by the Senior Medical Officer, Flt Lt Maxwell Atindaana, screened the inmates which is made up of 63 males and a female.

The screening exercise was conducted on a variety of health disorders including: Malaria, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Random Blood Sugar (RBS) tests on the inmates.

Brig Gen Yoanis Orlando, the Commander of the Prison was very grateful and appreciative of the kind gesture from the team.

He further stated that this is the first time a team of this kind has visited them.

The CIMIC team also donated assorted food items to the inmates of the prison.
