Outrageous: 998 Presidential Staffers At The Seat Of Government

About 998 Presidential staffers have been recorded to be working at the Jubilee House.

The Office of the President had 998 employees, including Ministers of State, washermen, and sanitary laborers, in 2018.

The list included Ministers of State at the Presidency, Senior Presidential advisers, Presidential aides, Staff from the Ghana Health Service, Controller and Accountant General's Department, Gardeners, Nightwatchmen, Household staff among others.

In fact, it is reported to be a tall list at the Presidency.

The numbers seem to have inflamed the passion of some Ghanaians who expressed emphatically that it is a complete disgrace to the government machinery.

Minority on Presidential Staffers
The Minority in Parliament wants the government to furnish them with the full list of active presidential staffers.

According to them, the government had delayed in presenting the list as required by the Presidential Office Act although they have spent a year and over in office already.

They accused the government of hiding the full list of presidential staffers.

Minority Leader Haruna Iddirisu said the Flagstaff House has failed to submit to parliament the names of people who work at the presidency.

This, he noted, goes against the principles of accountability.

"Where is the accountability and transparency? We demanded it

on the floor of parliament because we wanted to know as the numbers have been bloated," he added.
