A 38-year old female trader and resident of the Enche in the Western Region, Susan Poku, has commended Vodafone Ghana for bringing its free pregnancy ultra-sound screening project to her community.

The initiative, which screened over 30 pregnant women within Tarkwa and surrounding communities, was organised as part of Vodafone Foundation's free nationwide screening exercise, Healthfest which was held at the Tarkwa Community Park.

Sharing her excitement Susan said:
“This is my first pregnancy ultra-sound scan experience and I am very grateful to Vodafone Ghana for making this possible. The scan revealed I am carrying a healthy baby boy and I'm so happy and grateful.”

The free pregnancy ultra-sound scan initiative is born out of a partnership between the Vodafone Foundation and Devine and Mother Child Foundation (DMAC), as part of efforts to support the reduction of maternal and child mortality in the country.

The initiative provides free ultra-sound scan for pregnant women in deprived communities across the country.

The project which began in May 2015 has delivered timely maternal healthcare to over 3500 pregnant women in deprived communities across the country.

The technology intervention has also saved beneficiaries from complications and deaths whilst increasing antenatal coverage and improved maternal and child health.
