Kuntanase (Ash), June 27, GNA - The executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the two constituencies that form the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District have commended the President for re-nominating Mr Bright Addai-Mununkum as the District Chief Executive.

Making the commendation on behalf of his colleagues at a press conference at Kuntanase at the weekend, Mr Daniel Asuo-Afram, the Bosomtwe Constituency Secretary of the NPP, said the re-nomination of the DCE was a manifestation of the trust and confidence the President and people had in him. He said the district had experienced much development under Mr Addai-Mununkum and called on sympathisers of the party and people in the district to support the DCE to enable him continue with his good work.

Mr Yaw Yeboah, the Atwima-Kwanwoma Constituency Chairman of the party, said Mr Addai-Mununkum ensured an equitable distribution of projects in the district. He said since 2001, the constituency had been provided with 71 boreholes, 56 public toilets, three markets and a number of schools funded by the European Union, Social Investment Fund, the assembly and the HIPC fund.

Mr Yeboah said out of the 23 communities in the constituency that had no electricity as at 2001, 21 of them have been connected to the national grid and that the remaining two communities is going on.

Mr Antwi Boasiako, the Atwima-Kwanwoma constituency secretary of the NPP, said through the good work of the DCE the party's support had increased tremendously and said this reflected in the 2004 election results.

Mr Atta Kwasi Junior, the Bosomtwe Constituency Chairman, called on the chiefs in the district to unite and support the DCE to enable him to perform better. He said since the chieftaincy institution was a honourable one, chiefs should desist from partisan politics so as to maintain their image. He expressed concern about the habit of some chiefs in the district who involve themselves in writing letters against certain politicians. ''Such chiefs open themselves to ridicule and insults since when the allegations against these politicians are found to be false, the reaction could be unpleasant to the chiefs involved.''
