Kumasi, Jan 19, GNA - President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has a paid deeply touching tribute to the late Asantehemaa, Nana Afua Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who he said, provided him with invaluable counsel.

She was an invaluable and constant source of advice to me, he stated.

'It has often been said that man proposes and God disposes. The news of her death is a case in point. It meant that I could not get the opportunity to express my sincerest appreciation to her.'

'I am grateful to Providence that our lives crossed. You fought a good fight, and deserve the victor's crown. Yours was a life-well lived.'

The deceased Queen was the biological mother of the reigning Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

She would be buried deep in the night on Thursday at the Royal Mausoleum at Bremang after a four-day elaborate and lavish royal funeral ceremonies.

President Akufo-Addo conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the Asantehene, the royal family and members of the Oyoko clan on the loss of Nana Serwaa Ampem.

He prayed for God's blessings for the late queen, whose funeral was attended by thousands of mourners from all walks of life including former Heads of State, Ministers, Parliamentarians, Diplomats, Captains of Industry and the Clergy.

The President asked that God gave her soul 'peaceful rest until the last day of the resurrection'.
