Elections 2024 General Elections: NPC urge journalists to make integrity their hallmark
TUE, 27 FEB 2024 LISTEN

The Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council (NPC), Mr George Amoh, has urged media practitioners to make integrity their hallmark as the country inches towards the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Speaking at a two-day training on journalism and fact-based conflict reporting, he asked journalists to set good references for the next generation and be accountable for their reportage.

The training, funded by the US Embassy on peace, was on the theme “Enhancing the Media’s Role in Conflict Resolution, Peacebuilding and Democratic Consolidation in Ghana.”

Mr Amoh also called on journalists to desist from hate speech and insults and promote peace before and after the 2024 elections.

The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), organisers of the training, is implementing a 12-month project to empower 100 journalists from 50 news media organisations and five fact-checkers across seven regions in Ghana to enhance their capacity to publish fact-based media content that promotes peace, community resilience and democratic values.
