Mr. Richard Ahiagba, the National Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has opined on the trust Ghanaians have in the current Akufo-Addo-led government.

He claimed that the citizenry is very optimistic about seeing economic redemption under this government.

In a tweet on Monday, November 21, Mr. Ahiagba pleaded with the government to do more to maintain confidence and support.

“There is no doubt that Ghanaians still trust this government to bring back the economy. So, govt should ensure ongoing engagements with Ghanaians for their support and buy-in because they are who we WORK for!,” his tweet reads.

This comes at a time when the country's economy has been in great distress as prices of every commodity in the country keep surging, a situation that has caused an uproar among the citizenry.

The local currency, the Cedi, has also performed abysmally against major foreign currencies, such as the US dollar. The situation is worsened by the rising inflation rate which currently stands at 40.4 per cent.
