Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and some of the Sector Ministers including Mr. Yaw Osafo Marfo, the Senior Minister have paid a courtesy call on the chiefs and people of Akyem Oda constituency to canvas for votes ahead of the 2020 general elections.

The visit also afforded the opportunity to the New Patriotic Party to educate the public on the parties’ manifesto and the way forward the party would govern the country when the second chance is given to them by Ghanaians.

At a durbar in Oda Old Town Public Park, the Vice President urged the legible voters to consider the massive investments made for the country so far by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration and advised them to come out in their number during the 2020 general elections and vote massively to exceed 85% total votes turnout which the New Patriotic Party is targeting to achieve in the Oda Constituency.

Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said Ghana recorded massive power outrage under the then former President Jonh Dramani Mahama’s administration to crumble down businesses and eventually made Ghanaians experienced more economic hardships.

He further said the prudent management of Ghana’s economy by the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has helped to attract more investors to undertake businesses in Ghana, thereby helping to create sustainable jobs for citizens.

Torching on the achievements of the government, Dr. Bawumia indicated that the government has been able to embark on a number of developmental projects, programs, and activities in the various sectors of the economy such as education, health, energy, roads, agriculture and among others aimed to improve the living standards of the people.

Dr. Bawumia however advised the residents to support government implement its policies and programs.

Mr. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate elect in the Oda Constituency was officially introduced to the residents by Dr, Mahamudu Bawumia.

The Obrempong Gyamfi Saforo Kyere II, the Krotihene of Akyem Kotoko Traditional Area on behalf of Kotokuman called on the government to establish Technical University at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region.

According to him, the establishment of the said school would go a long way to create employment for the residents in the Municipality and the country as a whole. He further indicated that there are no Public universities at Akim Oda and its environs, lamenting that the people in the Birim Central Municipality including its sister Districts always travel afar to attend University in the other part of the regions.

He however said this situation poses serious threats to life of many students and their relatives and urged the government to do all he could to ensure the said University is established to serve the high population density in the Akim Oda and its catchment areas.

Obrempong Gyamfi also commended the government for initiating the 1D1F policy to establish new factories in some parts of the regions to address some of the unemployment issues confronting the country. He said the Municipality is known for sawmill activities and cocoa production and however appealed to the government to absorb the Oda Sawmill as a 1D1F project.

Accompanying the Vice President’s entourage were Mr. Eric Kwakye Darfour, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Minister of Information, Dr. Gideon Buako, the Advisor to the Vice President, Mrs. Victoria Adu, the Municipal Chief Executive for Birim Central, Mr. William Agyapong Quaittoo, the MP for Oda Constituency, Nana Agyemang Prempeh, the NADMO Director-General, Mr.Joseph Boahen Aidoo, the Chief Executive Officer for COCOBOD and among others.
