Is Allotey-Jacobs the Only Wise and Sane NDC Man?

Is Allotey-Jacobs the Only Wise and Sane NDC Man?
25.08.2020 LISTEN

Ever since Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi’s memoir titled “Working with Rawlings” hit the news headlines, the key operatives of Ghana’s main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have been literally crawling over each other doling out generous packages of incrimination and recrimination. In all this, though, one thing is crystal clear – and it is the fact that those who feel most aggrieved and hurt by the Kwamena Ahwoi muck-digging memoir, also believe that the Jerry John Rawlings-founded and operated National Democratic Congress was everything, except a progress- and development-oriented establishment geared towards the benefit of all Ghanaian citizens.

Of remarkable notice was a long article written by a UK-based National Democratic Congress’ supporter and, perhaps, prime beneficiary as well. The critic, by the name of Mr. Kofi Amenyo, caustically castigated Prof. Ahwoi for being both a hypocrite and a traitor because, in the estimation of the former, the Ahwoi Brothers have benefited more than any other operatives of the National Democratic Congress, and before the latter’s emergence and establishment, the extortionate junta of the erstwhile Rawlings-led Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC). I have yet to read the aforementioned purported exposé cum screed on the alleged kleptocratic shenanigans of the Ahwoi Brothers, the second of whom has decided to savagely bite the hand that magnanimously fed him for some two decades.

Which sententious testimonial merely points to what many Ghanaians on the arid margins of our society have known for as long as the Rawlings Posse has occupied center-stage of Ghana’s political culture. This autogenerated evidence of grand theft and plain and shameless kleptocracy is very pathetic but, nevertheless, inescapably revelatory of the perennial and veritable wasteland that was the Rawlings-Tsikata Reign-of-Terror. It was a Reign-of-Terror because it deliberately sought to instill a morbid sense of fear and anxiety in the overwhelming majority of the Ghanaian people, while the nation-wrecking leaders of the Gaddafi- and Castro-inspired “Revolution” literally creamed the country’s treasury of whatever was worthy of expropriation or alienating from the Ghanaian taxpayer.

It is also quite significant to observe that today the richest Ghanaians, largely the leaders of the faux-socialist National Democratic Congress, are the very firebrand Citizens’ Vetting Committee Magistrates who cavalierly robbed hardworking Ghanaian entrepreneurs of their legitimately acquired wealth and properties. And now, we have Ms. Anita D’Souza raining unprintable malediction or curses on Mr. Bernard Allotey-Jacobs, arguably the most decent among the frontline operatives of the National Democratic Congress, and his descendants down to umpteen generations, merely because the retired Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress has dared to conscientiously commend a dynamic, progressive and visionary President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for kickstarting an unprecedented and all-inclusive industrial development and an authentic revolution in the country.

Ms. D’Souza would have Mr. Allotey-Jacobs and his descendants languish in the Biblical Hell in perpetuity because, recently, at the commissioning of the CASA DE ROPA factory, under Nana Akufo-Addo’s “One District, One Factory” industrial policy initiative, at Gomoa-Bewadze, in the Central Region, Mr. Allotey-Jacobs called on Ghanaian voters to massively renew the mandate of the President because, according to the self-described Cape Coast fisherman, Nana Akufo-Addo has embarked on an unprecedented industrial-development initiative that is poised to significantly transform the quality of life of the ordinary Ghanaian citizen to the status of a First-World country and economy.

For Ms. D’Souza, the former Vice-Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Allotey-Jacobs’ decision to endorse President Akufo-Addo’s reelection bid is tantamount to treason and plain heresy, being that, in the opinion of Ms. D’Souza, “…the likes of Allotey-Jacobs… have immensely benefited from the NDC by putting up a hotel and other businesses….” So, you see, Dear Reader, with the key operatives of the National Democratic Congress, the 2020 General Election is far less about the relative performance track-records of Ghana’s two major political parties but, rather, making kleptocratic self-serving choices based primarily on the party that has been most amenable and conducive to helping its grubby and materially acquisitive movers-and-shakers to literally shakedown the woefully deprived and impoverished ordinary Ghanaian citizen and taxpayer (See “ ‘Allotey-Jacobs is a Judas, his lineage will pay dearly for his actions’ – Anita Desoso [D’Souza] ‘curses’” PeaceFM.com / Ghanaweb.com 8/24/20).
