Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has pulled out of the up coming BASS Awards, and claims it’s not a credible award scheme. He adds that the organizers are trying to ride on his fame for the success of the event.

The ‘Kakai’ musician posted on his Facebook page Friday dawn that he doesn’t want to be a apart of the awards. He threatened to go to court if his name is mentioned as a nominee by the organizers.

“The BASS Awards is not credible and I don’t want to be part of it, the organizers put my pictures on the billboards without informing me, I told them to negotiate with my Shatta Movement Crew or my father but they refused.

“Undoubtedly they want to ride on my fame to breakthrough for the success of the event.”

Speaking on Pluzz FM Friday, Wale mentioned that ending the managerial relationship with Bulldog, who is part of the organizers of the BASS Awards isn’t the reason for him pulling out , neither is he afraid of his co-contenders who he was nominated in the same category with.

“Am not pulling out because of my spoilt relationship with Bulldog, I am doing that because I wouldn’t gain anything from that awards.”

“The contenders I am with in the same category doesn’t scare me, though in Ghana awards are given based on favourite and not merit.”

“Going to the award as an observer wouldn’t serve me right if I have other importance things to do as well. The BASS Awards is not structured on pushing the industry to a high pedigree but rather tries means of making it from the masses.”

Shatta Wale believes that Samini pulling out of the same awards isn’t surprising because the latter does hiplife, not Dancehall.

“I actually don’t know Samini’s stand but I thought he pulled out of the BASS Awards because of his genre of music specifically being hip life artiste and not dancehall.”

Bass Awards is an annual awards scheme dedicated to Reggae and Dancehall music, and organized by Bullhaus Entertainment and its partners.
