Ghana would be making a debut appearance at the Miss Teen world pageant this July and the country would be represented by 17-year-old Hamida Yakubu, a final-year student of Labone Senior High School.

Hamida will be competing with other Miss Teens from Bahamas, Brazil, El Salvador, England, Canada, Curacao, Ecuador, Greece, South Africa, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Ireland, Wales, India, Ukraine, Philippines, Georgia, south east Asia, Romania, U.S.A, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, panama, Germany, Sweden, Japan and Nigeria.

She is the daughter of H. A. Yakubu, Commander of the Armor Car Squadron (A.C.S), Ghana Police Service and Mrs. Elizabeth Yakubu of the Ghana Prison Service.

Hamida, in an interview, said she was more than prepared for the world pageant and that she had her project ready to be presented for the Beauty With a Purpose segment of the pageant.

Miss Hamida Hakubu is currently undergoing grooming by Priscilla Asare, the current Miss Tourism Ghana, who would be companying her to the Teen World pageant.

Her clothes are being made by one of Ghana's classic designers, Philipo Inzaghi Collections, with fabrics sponsored by GTP.

“I'm grateful to Philipo Inzaghi, the founder of Miss Teen Ghana and Charlotte Sika Quaigraine, Miss Tourism Ghana 2010, for such a wonderful opportunity,” Hamida noted.

She asked Ghanaians to keep their fingers crossed, saying she wouldn't return empty-handed.
