SDTA Awards crown Bella Agyeman as Supreme African Promising Actress of the Year

It was all joy as Ghana’s own Bella Agyeman won the Supreme African Promising actress of the year 2023 at the 3rd annual SDTA academy awards for her electric dazzling comic performances in the movie titled 'SIKA'.

The award marked the first SDTA awards win for Bella, who became the third woman to be added to the historical list of actresses who have claimed the Supreme Dynamic Talent Academy awards honor and have been recognized throughout the SDTA awards history.

Bella Agyeman was named Supreme African Actress for playing the village girl in Sika with the character name as Adwoa Anima, the house help, who was having an affair with her boss; Kwaku Yankah, who wanted to keep the affair hidden.

The award, which was held on the 20th of December 2023 at the La palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra was a star-studded event that gathered the crème’ de la crème’.

A happy Bella Agyeman, speaking after receiving her award said “I am very grateful for this award. It’s been a journey throughout the year working back to back and to be recognized at the end of it all, I am really happy and delighted".

"Thank you to all the organizers and everyone who voted and supported me. And lastly, thanks to almighty God for giving me the strength and ability to get to where I am” she added.

The Chairperson of SDTA Awards, Hon. Zino Lexili Ogazi congratulated Bella and wished her well in her future endeavors.

“Well done to Miss Bella, she did a fantastic job with her role in Sika. We loved seeing her have that chance to be in the limelight on the stage and get wider recognition for the good work she is doing and we hope she does even better in the future. We are absolutely delighted that she won. Congratulations to her!”

The Supreme African Promising Actress award category is awarded to an upcoming African actress who has delivered an outstanding performance in the African cinema or dramatic series for outstanding talent and promising achievements in her role (s) delivery, whose works have distinguished her over the last 12 months but has not reached a prominent level of recognition at a national level or the African continent level but has however portrayed supremacy with work.
