VGMA 23: Ras Kuuku disagrees with Joe Mettle's nomination in the Artist of the Year category

Celebrated Ghanaian Reggae Dancehall artiste, Ras Kuuku has detested Gospel singer Joe Mettle’s inclusion in the major category of this year’s edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Born Kojo Kurankye, Ras Kuuku stated during a conversation on Hitz FM that the Gospel artist did nothing to merit him a nomination in the Artist of the Year category.

The ‘Wo’ singer made a few comparisons; “What did Joe Mettle do this year to merit the nomination in the ‘Artist of the Year’ category when Mpaebo and Nwansina are gospel too?

"Someone sang ‘I Swerve You’ and you considered that a gospel song so why can’t my song ‘Nwansina’ be a gospel song,” he said.

He further quizzed as to which of Joe Mettle’s songs can match up to that of Fameye’s ‘Praise’.

Ras Kuuku had earlier taken to his Facebook page to express what he made of the Gospel artist's nomination.

"Ghana Music Industry please one question p3 wey I wan ask... Joe Mettle nu the Award Scheme to him anaa? Aaaaahba," he stated.

Meanwhile, organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards have released the nominees for this year’s edition with Afro Dancehall Artiste Stonebwoy making a return to the scheme.
