Miss Galaxy Holds Health Walk To Protect The Environment Ahead Of Saturday's Grand Finale

Organizers, delegates, friends and families of Miss Galaxy Ghana '17 on Saturday May, 27 held a ground breaking environmental health walk as part of efforts to create awareness in Accra.

The event which was attended by hundreds commenced at the Accra Mall and ended at Knustford University College (East Legon).

The organizers noted that, the walk is meant to create awareness on various environmental degradation, poor sanitation and also bell loudly the urgency under which Ghanaians must rise beyond politics to promote and protect our environment for posterity.

Miss Galaxy Ghana is an environmental focus pageant that empowers young ladies to become influential actors in the fight against poor environmental practises in Ghana. Miss Galaxy Ghana is here to stay.

The charged and energetic participants held placards with the following inscriptions "Clean the gutters Daily, Let the drains flow, No more June 3 disaster, Stop flooding now, We stand for the environment, Stop littering around, Stop open defecation now, Save our water bodies now, We are the friends of the environment, The Voice of the environment, Plant a tree, plant life".

Others were "Stop irresponsible mining now, Galamsey Kills, Stop the pollution now, Free us from mercury infections, Galamsey is cancerous, Save our Future, We are sitting on a time bomb. Numerous motorists couldn't pass without having a glimpse of it.

They thumbed up the move by blowing horns, throwing the okay sign and others joining the march. With enough protection from the Legon Police officers, the walk ended successfully in peace and with some warm treat of reception.
