Shatta Wale has condemned the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) over its appeal to musicians to eliminate profane lyrics from their songs.

MUSIGA in a statement signed by its president, Bice Osei Kuffuor, aka Obour, disclosed that profane songs were not good for public consumption , especially as the songs were played without any edits on radio and given wide currency on social media.

Reacting to MUSIGA's statement, Shatta Wale stressed that no music body, including the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), can ban him from pursuing music in the country.

The 'Kakai' hit singer who has profane songs on the music market said MUSIGA should rather focus on improving the welfare of musicians instead of discouraging the production of profane songs.

He added that MUSIGA as an organisation lacks focus on how to promote Ghanaian musicians and equipping them to be self-reliant, creative and industrious.

Speaking on Pluzz FM, the award-winning dance artiste pointed out that every song he produces is in the interest of his fans, hence his latest one, adding that MUSIGA cannot sabotage his creative works.

He said many musicians cannot make ends meet, yet MUSIGSA has not thought of making them see music as a business venture.

Shatta Wale, however, urged the MUSIGA president and his team to sit up and create opportunities for the musicians.

In his post on Facebook, the dancehall artiste hailed highlife legend Daddy Lumba for his timely songs he has released.

He continued to tag some industry players as “disgraceful souls” who are “hypocrites and hungry”.

Shatta Wale called on music bodies in the country that want to legally prohibit him from music to first punish Daddy Lumba and Yaa Pono before they come after him.
