Papa Shee Shoots 'African Princess' in Downtown NY

New York based and Internationally known Music star; Papa Shee, also an Executive Producer is very creative and hardworking artiste who seems to reinvent himself. He always proves his doubters wrong by not giving up.

As Ghanaians, we must always give credit where credit is due; how many times have we heard of a Ghanaian artiste shooting a music video in a Rolls Royce in Manhattan, the heart of New York City and causing so much attention and respect? It is about love and encouragement. Papa Shee has become a trendsetter and is opening doors of opportunity for all Ghanaian artistes in the music video industry. All artistes must take advantage of this opportunity.

He is credited with being the first Ghanaian artiste to produce a music video on DVD. A year ago he shot a music video in Manhattan, NY featuring lots of beautiful women and a bunch of guys on Harley Davidson motor cycles riding around New York City and Bronx.

This time, he takes it to the top by featuring himself, a gorgeous actress/model; Joselle Pluviose aka Jojo and a Rolls Royce (that's for shizzle, my nizzle), courtesy of NY's finest; Executive Limousine who have clients like baseball star; Derek Jeter and Jay Z. The scenes were shot in the Rolls Royce and a horse carriage riding around Manhattan.

The music video is entitled; "My African Princess", (Obaahema my Yaa Asantewaa). Since the theme of the video derived from the classic "Coming to America", Papa Shee as an African Prince, wore a gold crown given to him by a prominent royal, a long indian fashion wear with a pair of "genie" shoes to match it.

The African prince woos a beautiful lady to be his princess. While cruising in the Bronx in the Rolls Royce, the limo caught the eyes of many who could not stop watching and waving. There were also some students passing by who ran after the Rolls Royce, just to get glimpse of the couple.

As Papa Shee and Jojo were shooting some scenes in the horse carriage at Central Park, Manhattan, there was a traffic jam as it was caused by a tourist guide standing on top of a double decker bus full of tourists, a horse carriage driver passing by and other tourists stopping and asking respectively; "Are you an African Prince in America with your bride". Papa Shee replied; "Definitely I am an African Prince and this is my princess representing the motherland". Some tourists stopped to greet the stars and asked for autographs. Even the limo driver was impressed and showed Papa Shee's CD to the tourists to prove a point. Other tourists took pictures with the stars and it was exciting as well as interesting to see a Ghanaian artiste shooting a music video in Manhattan drawing such an attention. Papa Shee brought a taste of the riches of the African heritage to Manhattan and caused a standstill.

The music video was directed by the world renowned; Thomas Wendell who also directed the latest music video by Gospel trio; Daughters of Glorious Jesus. Thomas says he is very happy and looking forward to help direct all Ghanaian artistes in their music videos.

As the Rolls Royce arrives at his home in the Bronx after wrapping up the video shoot, many of Papa Shee's neighbours applauded him for his creativity and always pushing limits. One African American neighbour said; "I know Papa Shee is going to a superstar one day and that day is definitely coming, he is such a hardworking guy" and a young man also said "Hey Papa, I am waiting for my video shoot".
