Lessons I Learnt From My Parents!

Lessons I Learnt From My Parents!
17.12.2013 LISTEN

Growing up as a child, there were certain vital lessons I learnt from my parents that I would love to share With You.

I remember vividly what my dad used to say anytime I tell him I was hungry.

Anytime I tell him I was hungry, he will tell my mum, "an enemy of humanity is attacking your son " and when I ask him why some people were poor, he will retorted, "that is also one of our enemies " ,again when I ask why some people were treated better than others, he will again say it was an enemy of humanity.

Normally I ask no further question, I know very well that he was always expecting me to ask a follow up question, But I won't. I preferred taking a deep thought, I preferred proper introspection, being occupied With critical questions that will make me sit in solitude for a long time without any disturbance was one of my benchmarks.

My mum. Anytime I ask my mum why all the cry of giving us education, she will be like "you people need it because it is the only legacy that can't be taken away from You even after we are gone " The thought of death was a very unpleasant thing to me, I always stop my mind from thinking about it. How will the feeling be like to lose my lovingly and caring parents was never an option that I entertained because I never wanted it to occur, little did I know that there were certain things beyond our control.

It was until I lost my parents still as a child that I realised how important those lessons were for my general development.

Now the questions I used to ask my dad and mum face me than never before. The realities are now before me . I have indeed found the answers to the hidden answers within the answers they gave me many years ago.

I have truly discovered that the common enemies of humanity are hunger, poverty, injustice, discrimination and any form of inequality.

I have also discovered that indeed the real life education that was given to me can't be taken away from me, even if You take away the certificates of my formal education , the education is not the certificate, it may deny me certain opportunities in life, But not my ability to transfer that knowledge I have gained, that knowledge will always be put to use in order to help transform my society.

Having come this have, I have decided to choose a path for myself, that path will I walk throughout my stay on this earth.

I have decided to continuously fight against the above enemies of humanity and not any fellow human being. I have also decided to continuously impact into my generation the kind of education that we need to effect a change, a legacy that no one can take from us. This is who I am, this is the path I have taken.

It is my hope and believe that this little story will inspire us all to continuously work for the common Good of the human race.

We are the solutions we seek!!
