Like all other human beings, he was open to the occasional health scare—a constant reminder of human frailty and mortality for everyone. But his was a little not normal. Because he was a public figure and a president, every health problem of his was bound to be keenly scrutinized and overblown by some.
And, after surviving a number of death-predictions, health failures and other political problems, the soft-spoken President has sadly, silently and untimely passed on.
But, he didn't join the silent ones without playing a part in Ghanaian politics. He did his best.
Here's my tribute to the man:
It's Adieu at Long Last?
Believe it or not,
He never cared about the sorry lot
Who clamoured and campaigned for his death
He only believed in a better Ghana, and kept the faith
Alas! Himself he surrounded with both good and bad players
Or, they rather surrounded him and misunderstood his gentleness??
Whatever the case, whatever the cry; death has no cure and no care;
But a Higher Power will call me a liar and bring back the dead to life.
Adieu John Evans Atta Mills; you played your part, you did your best.
