This week, the maiden edition of “baahduodu live”; a platform for opinion leaders to answer questions on National development from me and readers of www.baahduodu.com, featured Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, Leader of Progressive People's Party (PPP), Ghana.

The following questions were submitted to Dr. Nduom to answer:

1. What is your vision for the youth of Ghana?
Provide Quality Education for Every Ghanaian Child. Standardize school facilities from kindergarten to Senior High School with libraries, toilets, classrooms, kitchen, housing for teachers, playground, etc: and Ensure free and compulsory education in public schools from kindergarten to Senior High School (including computer training).

We will deploy an “Education Police” to enforce the compulsory aspect of our policy. An integral part of this objective will be an objective to significantly increase vocational training so that all school leavers gain employable skills. This will include a comprehensive sports programme to instill discipline and promote better health.

Create Jobs. Use government's purchasing power to ensure that we eat what we grow and use what we produce in Ghana. Improve Ghana's business climate to enable investment in job creation so that our people will stay at home to help develop the country and its economy.

We will be relentless in providing support to Ghanaian industry and our farmers and fishermen using low interest loans, technical assistance, tax incentives and priority access to the Ghanaian market. To accelerate job creation nationally, an inter-region highway will be built with the same high quality throughout the country to open up the country for investment and development.

2. Would you go back to the 4 year Senior High School (SHS) or maintain the 3 years and why?

It is not a question of whether 4 year or 3 year. It is a question of providing quality education. Once our education policy of building standardized schools with all facilities are met, plus government finding money to pay teachers then there will be no need to fight over the duration of school. The Ghana Education Service (GES) itself will have to decide how long students need to stay in school. The duration is not to be determined by politicians.

3. What are your plans for young entrepreneurs in Ghana who need financial support?

It is my vision to see an economic environment that promotes local industries. To this end i have a vision to create an enabling environment that will allow local investors to have leverage on their international competitors in order to allow for more creation of business and jobs.

4. How important would job creation be for your government and how would you do it?

Job creation is so much important to me. And it is evident in my personal life. Today, I together with my family provide Jobs for more than 2,500 Ghanaians. We need state power to enable me multiply this effect for the benefit of Ghanaians.

5. I can see that you are making use of social media. Especially Facebook…Is social media platform a tool to make the youth lazy or not. How can Ghanaian youth benefit positively from social media usage?

Through Facebook, I am able to communicate with hundreds of thousands of Ghanaian youth today. Facebook is a modern time form of communication which is helping multimillion Companies worldwide to reach out to customers and clients.

It is a tool that can be used effectively for good purposes. Young people everywhere need guidance and mentorship. If we guide and direct our young ones, they will make good use of Facebook and internet generally. There are always those who will want to find a way of being bad no matter the situation, but I don't think we can blame Facebook for anyone's laziness.
