Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah has cautioned participants in the ongoing voter registration exercise against engaging in any illegal activities or violence.

The limited registration exercise, initiated by the Electoral Commission, commenced on May 7 and is scheduled to conclude on May 20.

EC Chairperson Jean Mensa announced the 21-day exercise, which is taking place in 785 electoral areas and 25 public universities across the country, with a projected goal of registering 623,000 new voters to supplement the 910,000 new registrants recorded in 2023.

During an interview on Peace FM's “Kokrokoo” morning show, Dr. Otchere-Ankrah cautioned against the use of minors in the registration process.

He implored parents and guardians to resist the temptation of allowing politicians to use their wards to participate in the exercise, warning that “such actions will encourage them to become thieves in future.”

The Governance lecturer at Central University emphasized the importance of integrity in the registration process, urging both parents and children not to succumb to the manipulative tactics of politicians.

"Unfortunately, between NDC and NPP, there is no virgin at the maternity ward…go and patiently register your name,” Dr. Otchere-Ankrah stated.
