We're ready to face those claiming to be kingmakers in Konongo boot to boot — Konongo Royal Family

At a press conference held on Monday, January 20, 2024 at Konongo, the Konongo Royal family has vowed to crash persons masquerading around as Kingmakers plotting to unlawfully take over and perform the burial rites (dɔteyie) of the late Konongo hene Nana Batafo Achempoong Nti ll without the royal family's notice.

"Such faceless people could do so at their peril or risk because we are ready to meet them boot to boot if they mistakenly move a step forward to carry out their agenda," the family warned.

Speaking at the press conference, Nana Kwaku Nkrumah who is the Asonahene of Konongo indicated that they will not allow non-Royal Family members to preside over the late chief's funeral since such an attempt would be a breach of customary laws of the land.

"We cannot allow anyone to bury the late chief Nana Batafo Achempong Nti ll as an ordinary person since we fully and customary recognized him as a prominent chief," Nana Nkrumah told the press.

On his part, Nana Ankomah Yeboah, the son of the late Konongohene expressed their readiness to resist anyone who attempt to bury his late father as an ordinary man.

"We are ready for them. We will not sit here to let these things go on at Konongo and we will meet them squarely if they refuse to change their mindsets," Nana added.

He therefore pleaded and strongly appealed to the Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, Hon Asamoah Boateng Minister for Chieftaincy Affairs and Religious Affairs and Asantehene to intervene to avoid any bloodshed.

Nanayere Martha Ashamiamah, wife of the late Konongohene Batafo Achempong Nti ll expressed worry about how certain people have been handling her late husband's funeral to create the impression as if her late husband was an ordinary person.
