NPP Alan Kyeremanten was the brain behind Ghana Card not Bawumia — Hopeson Adorye
THU, 09 MAY 2024 LISTEN

Hopeson Adorye, a former member of the New Patriotic Party has disclosed that Alan Kyeremanten was the mastermind behind the issuance of the Ghana Card.

In an interview with Captain Smart on Onua Makye Show, Hopeson Adorye highlighted that although Dr Bawumia has claimed credit for the Ghana Card, the idea originated from Kyeremanten.

He recounted how Alan Kyeremanten presented the concept during a government cabinet meeting, investing considerable time explaining its potential.

Hopeson Adorye, who is the Director of Special Duties for Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change, also noted Dr Bawumia's silence during the meeting, only to later claim credit publicly.

"Alan introduced the 'One District One Factory' initiative, which the NPP adopted for their 2020 manifesto, along with other beneficial ideas for the government. Additionally, Alan spearheaded the implementation of the Ghana Card, using MADGET's technology, during a 2017 cabinet meeting where he briefed the members for two to three hours. Despite Alan's efforts, Bawumia, who remained silent during the briefing, is taking public credit for the idea without any evidence of implementation," he said.

Hopeson Adorye made this disclosure while justifying his choice for Alan, citing his innovation and advancement over Bawumia's self-acclaimed tech prowess.

"Bawumia and Alan were both approached by the UN for speaking engagements. Bawumia's lectures on the Zimbabwean economy led to increased prices in the market, prompting the UN to ask him to leave due to the lack of positive impact. Alan was tasked with uniting Africa's 54 states into a single market during a trip to Ethiopia. Through his application of practical wisdom, Alan successfully persuaded the African nations to agree to the idea of a unified market in a remarkably short period of time," he emphasised.
