In response to John Agyekum Kufuor's comments made on 18th May 2005 in Burma Camp, in Accra: If you feel the allegation that has been made against you is false, you have every right to prove it to Ghanaians that these allegation of corruption and nepotism in your administration are false.
You should also realize that we are not living under the rules of the law of nature where human beings can do whatever pleases them and get away with it. Your son, Kufuor, has confessed that he has 40 percent of the shares in that hotel. There is nothing inherently wrong for your son to have shares in businesses in Ghana, but we the people, also have the right to know where the financial resources come from. We know your brother and your brother- in- law were elected from their various constituencies. But that is not what we are talking about; your bosom friends like Anane and others whom you have helped have become affluent in your administration. The title that you have given to your brother- in-law, is the senior Minister. What is the definition of that title?
Kufuor said, “ This is not saying that the government is perfect. But when people make allegation s, they should follow with facts and complaints at the appropriate law agencies.” But under this circumstance they have proved the fact that your son has shares. I am glad that you have realized that we now live within the state of nature where we all must obey the rules and the laws within our constitutions. If a person commits a felony he or she is innocent until proven guilty by the court. So, an allegation has been made against you; you have to prove it false without any impudence.
I am urging the ethics committee in Parliament to investigate all these allegations against John Agyekum Kufuor. He has the audacity to say that these allegations are evil propaganda whiles he knows that they are true. I want the president to read The Chronicle article on May 19,2005 after he left Kumasi. The NPP'S Ashanti stronghold is fed up with his lack of infrastructure projects in that area, compared to those in other parts of the country. When I wrote an article urging you to not take Ashanteman for granted you thought I was making false allegations against you. Now you have seen it yourself. The people of Ashanti region are tired of your nonsense tribal politics that you are playing with.
You think that if you develop Ashanti region people will complain that you are an Ashanti and that is why you are developing the region. Kumasi is not Lagos or Lome. It is still Ghana. Nana Kofi Amankwah (New York) Views expressed by the author(s) do not necessarily reflect those of GhanaHomePage.
