Laryea Kingston has announced that he will resign as Ghana's U-17 coach following the U-17 WAFU Zone B tournament.

Kingston confirmed his resignation on Saturday after Ghana's 2-1 loss in the semifinals, which ended their hopes of qualifying for next year's Africa Cup of Nations.

At the post-match press conference, Kingston expressed his disappointment and delivered an emotional speech announcing his decision to step down.

Kingston emphasized his dedication to Ghana, both as a player and as a coach. He revealed that he had decided to resign while the team was in Russia for a U-16 tournament, expressing his emotions as he spoke.

"In the past six or seven months, I have given my all. I have done my part as a coach," Kingston stated.

"After returning from Russia, I decided that, regardless of the tournament's outcome, I would move on. So, I am resigning from my role as the U-17 coach after this tournament."

"I made this decision before the tournament started, and the reasons will be explained later," he added.

Kingston, who took on the role in April after initially serving as assistant coach, oversaw a period of impressive performance for Ghana's youth team, with 54 goals in 18 games.

Despite their elimination, the Black Starlets will still compete for third place in the tournament.
