Serial rapist in USA requests freedom—again

Edward Jackson (a former medical doctor and graduate from Ohio State University) was convicted of raping 36 women in Ohio. He wants to be released. Not because of innocence—he confessed.

According to a 2011 report by 10TV News, “A serial rapist who police said terrorized a Columbus neighborhood for seven years said on Friday that he wants released from prison early.” Why? Jackson claims his prison sentence is excessive. www.10tv.com/.

Why am I not surprised that a convicted serial rapist tells the judge that he was wrong to sentence a socio/psychopath to 282 years for raping 36 human beings. Why would we expect a crocodile to act and react like anything else but a crocodile? Why would we expect a Tasmania devil to act and react like anything else but a Tasmania devil?

Nancy Elliott, a resident of Ohio, wrote a Letter to the Editor that was posted January 12, 2019, in the Columbus Dispatch. Elliot penned, “It is hard to believe that, in August 2019, it will once again be time for serial rapist Edward Jackson, also known as “the Grandview rapist,” to come up for parole. We cannot let this happen…Every 10 years I write a letter to the editor on behalf of my dearest friend, who was attacked by Jackson in 1980, and who still lives with the fear engendered that morning when she awoke with a knife to her throat.” www.dispatch.com/.

Jackson was a medical doctor who swore by the Hippocratic Oath to do no harm. “But by night--and both sides also agree on this--Jackson was a rapist, methodical in his stalking of single women, meticulous in planning his break-ins and in carrying out his attacks, which were brutal if the women acquiesced and extremely brutal if they resisted. Jackson's alleged victims were women 21 to 45 years old, black and white, secretaries, nurses, psychologists, lawyers, businesswomen--and one Roman Catholic nun. Others were unemployed. In three instances, Jackson is accused of breaking into apartments shared by two or three women and sexually assaulting all the occupants,” according to a 1983 article in the Washington Post. www.washingtonpost.com/.

According to a 1982 article in the New York Times, “A grand jury has returned a 94-count indictment, including 36 charges of rape, against a prominent Columbus physician.” www.nytimes.com/.

An offender with genuine remorse would not request a release from the parole board because he would be experiencing genuine guilt for terrorizing and raping multiple women. A repentant predator would not claim his 282 years punishment is too severe.

But a serial rapist with a seared conscience and inability to feel empathy would ask to be released back into society.
