Accra: About 600 Jobs Coming Out Of Dawa Industrial Park Project

At least six hundred persons are expected to be employed at the Industrial Park at Dawa in the Greater Accra region, as part of government's industrial transformation agenda.

The park, which forms part of many to be established across the country, is among others expected to assist factories with the provision of reliable power and access to warehousing facilities.

The Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen paid a working visit to the park on Monday, January 22, 2018, to take a look at the benefits to be derived from this project when completed.

The 80 million dollar project is to house various industries including warehouses.

Out of the 2,000 acre land, 300 acres is been set up as its Energy Park designed to host power plants and petroleum tank farms.

The project which is fully funded by private company LMI Holdings forms part of Governments industrial transformational agenda.

Director, Power business of LMI Holdings, Ernest Owusu Afari told Citi Business News the project when completed will create employment for over 600 Ghanaians.

Meanwhile the first occupant of the facility, a steel manufacturing company – Golden Milan, is expected to move into the space and begin full operation by October this year (2018).

“In putting this entire industrial park together, our first tenant, Golden Milan, a Chinese company is in the process of moving in. They have actually commenced their earth works and civil works and are bringing in their factory equipment. It is an aluminium fabrication plant and they expect to be fully operational within the next ten months,” Owusu Afari said.

He added he is also hopeful the facility will rake in more revenue for government with the coming on board of the right investors.

“We Ghanaians stand to benefit from job opportunities, revenue and taxes that will flow into government coffers. So these are all some of the initiatives that LMI is undertaking in support of government's industrialization agenda”.

Addressing the media after inspecting the land, Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyeremateng commended LMI Holdings for the initiative adding that the project is a typical example of the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda.

“When the President talks about a new Ghana beyond aid, this is a practical demonstration of what he is looking at for Ghana,” he assured.

The Energy Park will have a purpose built Single Point Mooring (SPM) system for offloading light crude oil, finished petroleum products and natural gas.

The park is also expected to tie into the BOST Gas transmission infrastructure once available.

The facility is also estimated to house about 300 companies as occupants when completed.
