An aspirant for the position of Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Kwasi Obeng -Fosu, has cautioned his fellow party men and women who are vying for various positions in the party to avoid engaging in campaigns characterized by character assassination.

According to him, the NPP is bigger than any individual, hence the need to ensure, that the party comes out of the impending internal party elections much stronger and more united than ever.

He told the Daily Statesman in an interview, that the NPP is known for its democratic values; a virtue that has made it the “party of the people and for the people.”

He stressed, “The NPP is the people’s choice when we talk of “an attractive political party” in Ghana today-We don’t have to take that for granted. We need to jealously protect it,” he told the Daily Statesman.

To this end, he advised his colleagues vying for various positions in the party to avoid tarnishing the images of others all in the name of winning elections.

“We can argue, debate and sell our strengths to our followers, but what we should never do is, mudslinging. The interest of the party should come first before our individual interests. He further emphasized, that at the end of the contest, we will all need to come together as one family and fight for the collective interest of the party, the more reason why we must be decorous in our utterances ”

Popularly known as Baba Taufic, Mr Obeng-Fosu advised his colleague aspirants to take a cue from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who engaged in decent campaigns through out his political career .

“Our leader and President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo showed us what decent politics is, in the run up to the 2016 elections. This is what we must all do. Despite the character assassination from ex-President Mahama and the others, Nana Akufo-Addo stayed focused and sold his policies to Ghanaians. This is what we must all do,” he advised.

Mr Obeng-Fosu concluded by advising, that all those who may not be victorious after the elections, should endeavor to congratulate the eventual winners and work hand in hand with them to help the party in the 2020 elections.
