Kumasi July 21, GNA - A 28-year old driver arrested by the police for alleged defilement of a minor was on Friday put before a Kumasi Circuit Court and remanded.

Francis Donkor has additionally been charged with threat of death and would make his next appearance on July 26. He pleaded not guilty.

Police Superintendent Adani Ameyaw told the court presided over by Mr. John Ekow Mensah that the incident happened on June 12, at about 1800 hours.

The accused lives in the same house with the victim - a relative of the wife, at Adumasa.

He took advantage of the absence of the wife to forcibly had sex with the girl at knife-point.

He warned her not to tell anything about what she had been through or be killed.

The girl fearing for her life, did as she was told, kept her ordeal to herself, and that emboldened Donkor to continue to sexually abuse her.

He would sneak to her room at dawn to sexually assault her and the victim, unable to stand the abuse any longer, gathered courage and made a report to the police on July 10.

A medical examination form signed by doctors confirmed multiple vaginal bruises, broken hymen and urinary infection.

The prosecution added that the accused admitted in his caution statement to defiling the girl but denied threatening to kill her.
