Kumasi, May 01, GNA - The Rotary Club of Accra Labone has made available 35 wheelchairs in support of three selected health facilities across the country.

These are the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), which received 20 of them, the Tamale Teaching Hospital, 10, and the Saint Michael Hospital at Jache-Pramso, five.

The donation climaxed the year-long 'wheel for hope' project, which sought to provide 100 pieces of wheelchairs to hospitals.

Korle-bu Teaching Hospital and the Disabled Association of Ghana had already been supplied with some of the wheelchairs.

Rotarian Lamtiig Apanga, President of the Club, said the aim was to help patients, especially in emergency situations.

He said with the support of its partners - DHL, Ash Cell, Kaize Group and individuals, the Club, was able to exceed the target of 100 wheel chairs it set to distribute.

He reminded the beneficiary institutions to ensure that these were made available to needy patients to serve their purpose.

Mr. George Tetteh, Director of Administration at KATH, receiving the chairs on behalf of the institutions, thanked Rotary Club for the gesture and said they would provide huge relief to patients.

He invited individuals, institutions and organizations to find space to contribute to the effort towards improving the quality of healthcare.
