Nungua (GAR), March 1, GNA - The Traditional leaders of Nungua have announced the ground rules for the funeral of Wor Lumor Konor Borketey Larweh-Tsuru I, Nungua Gborbu Wulomo (high priest) of the Ga-Dangme State.
The Gborbu Wulomo was enstooled on the May 9, 1987 and ruled for 29 years. He passed on, on November 24, 2015.
This was made known when Nii Otukpe II, Nungua Seitse who read a joint statement with King Dr Odaifio Welentsi III, Paramount Chief of the Nungua Traditional Area and President of the Nungua Traditional Council and Nuumo Akwetey Faashie, the Gborbu Laabia/Acting Gborbu Wulomo at a news conference at Zemaman Presbyterian Church Premises at Nungua.
The statement said: 'It is instructive to note that the accredited elders of the Numo Borketey Larweh as tradition demands have called on the Nungua Mantse and the Traditional Council to seek their consent and approval to join hands to give their departed High Priest (Wulomo) a befitting burial.'
It said the Nungua Traditional Council expressed concern that the funeral was a crucial moment for the people of Nungua and therefore called on all to come together and morn the High Priest.
The funeral arrangements were as follows; the body of the late Gborbu Wulomo would be laid in state from Tuesday, February 28 to March 4, 2017 for public viewing.
On Wednesday March 1, various clans at Nungua would file past the body; Thursday March 2, the chiefs and traditional leaders from near and far would view the body at 22:00 hours to 03:00 hours for sacred rites to be performed and all and sundry were expected to be indoors.
On Friday March 3, there would be no commercial activities whilst there would be a wake-keeping on the evening of the same day, and the burial would take place on Saturday, March 4.
The Nungua Traditional Council, per its President, King Dr Odaifio Welentsi III and the elders of the Wulomo welcome all and sundry from all walks of life to join them to morn their great hero.
