The Sona: Brong Ahafo Still In Agony
25.02.2017 LISTEN

The state of the nation is now the talk of town. The laws of this country allow the president to go to parliament at least once a year to tell the people of Ghana the happenings within their socio- politico space. This law has religiously been followed and H.E NADAA has done justice to it. The state of the nation is equally the state of the people and the vice versa is true.

In as much as the SONA concerns all the citizenry in the country, the people of Brong Ahafo are yet to have “their state addressed”. The broad day looting of the people in B/A by ponzy schemes “aided” by Kofi Wampah (former governor of BoG) is yet to be addressed. It is known that DKM has been liquated and the proceeds shared to the victims. That is commendable.

However, the BNI in the wake of those scandals arrested Nortey Noel and Monica Afriyie of the God is Love Fun Club (GILFC) fame, Charles Asum of Jastar Motors and Delle K. Martin of DKM. What is the “state” of those people after they were arrested and charge in an Accra circuit court presided over by Aboagye Tandoh (Daily Guide 16/01/16). The people in Brong Ahafo wants to know.

For many times Ghanaians have been short-changed; US tilapia, noble dream etc. The perpetrators of these acts which I called the “daughters of the devil” are better connected than the sons of innocent men. Apart from DKM, GILFC is the next ponzy scheme that has gathered more savings from the populace. One of the managers, Nortey Noel now walks freely in Nkoranza under the escort of police officers enjoying state protection whiles some of his victims have lost their lives and others continue to suffer. It is worthy to note that Nortey and his GILFC collected more monies even when BoG had frozen their accounts.

Mr. president, your past role in seeking for justice for the ordinary masses in this country is unparalleled. In as much as you are in a hurry to fix this economy, you must equally be in a hurry to let the people in B/A know the “true state of their economy”. Nortey Noel and Monica Afriyie cannot be allowed to enjoy their booty while the people continue to suffer. I know for a fact that such losses must cover to private properties of these individuals at the centre of the ponzy schemes and the state has a duty to ensure justice prevails in B/A. If the monies cannot be retrieved, the culprits can go to jail to serve as a deterrent to others nursing such wicked acts. Until that is done, ponzy schemes remain a safe haven for people to exploit and get away with their impunity.
