Half-Assini, WR, Jan 19, GNA - A 25-year-old man, Yaw Abubakari, from Nvellenu near Mpataba, in the Western Region died on the spot when a Vehicle knocked him down on a pedestrian crossing.

The Half-Assini District Police Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Charles Mensah, who made this known to the media at Half-Assini, on Wednesday, said the accident occurred at about 1820 hours, on January 11.

He said the Dodge Ram Mini-bus, with registration number AS 1983-12, knocked Abubakari down.

The Crime Officer said the Vehicle was traveling from Elubo towards Aiyinasi in the Ellembele District and that in the process it tried overtaking two vehicles ahead of it, but this resulted in the accident.

He said the body of the deceased had since been released to the family after a post-mortem at the Half-Assini Government Hospital.

ASP Mensah said the driver of the vehicle, Charles Nyankey had been granted a Police enquiry bail.

He, therefore, urged drivers to be cautious on the road due to the foggy weather now.
