you cannot swim--Barry Winneba (C/R), March 26, GNA - The Assemblyman for the Abasraba Electoral Area at Winneba, Mr. Yakubu Barry, has advised people who do not have swimming skills not to enter the sea on Easter Monday at the Winneba beach to avoid drowning.

He said the rough sea condition, which caused the drowning of three boys after the Independence Day Anniversary on March 6 this year at Winneba persisted.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Saturday, Mr. Barry said everything possible was being done to ensure "an incident free beach this year" and called for cooperation.

He noted that most of the time it was people from the hinterland who had no knowledge about swimming who got drown because they could not swim ashore when the current got high.

Mr. Barry urged people who did not know how to swim to enjoy the serene atmosphere at the beach but not to attempt to get into the sea. The Assemblyman appealed to fishermen in the area to serve as lifeguards to rescue from drowning.

He advised against the use of the beach as a place of convenience since anyone caught would not be sparred. Three boys drowned after the Independence Anniversary parade of school children. 26 March 05
