Council of State and Religious bodies call for prayers

Accra, Nov. 25, GNA - The Council of State and religious organisation on Thursday set aside Friday December 3 and Sunday December 5, this year as day of Muslim and Christian prayers to seek divine intervention for a successful, free, fair and peaceful election. The decision was taken after the Council of State and representative of the religious bodies held a meeting in Accra as to how to ensure peaceful Election 2004.

A statement Mr Sam Akurang Wiafe, Head of Public Affairs of the Council, signed, said Mr Anthony Kwashie Deku, Acting Chairman of the Council together with the representatives of the religious bodies initialled a communiqu=E9 on the issue.

Those who were present were The Reverend Monsignor Seth Osei Agyeman, Secretary General of the National Catholic Secretariat; Maulvi Wahab Adam, Ameer and Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission and the Reverend Albert Kwabi, Deputy General Secretary of the Christian Council.

The rest were Sheik Mahmoud M. Gedeh, representative of the National Chief Imam and The Reverend Jerry-Paul Adzah, representative of the Ghana Pentecostal Council. The meeting appealed to all Ghanaians to participate in the prayer and fasting activity for peaceful elections. 25 Nov. 04
