Elmina (C/R), Mar 30, GNA- A 36-year-old farmer from Abayee near Elmina, who allegedly raped a 78-year-old bed-ridden woman was on Tuesday remanded in prison custody by a district court at Elmina. Kweku Adu's plea was not taken and he is to re-appear on Tuesday April 27. Police Chief Inspector Keyward Adjei told the court presided over by Mr Kwame Ohene Essel that on March 18 this year, Adu, sneaked into the room of the victim, who is bed ridden as a result of stroke and raped her when her children were not at home.
Prosecution said Adu then went into hiding at Dwabo, also near Elmina, and the victim's children began to look him, when they learnt of the incident. Adu was arrested at his hideout nine days later and handed over to the police, the prosecution said.
