GNPC commend stars

Accra, Feb 4, GNA - The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), has commended the Ghana Black Stars for their spirited display of sportsmanship with a 2-0 win over the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde, at the ongoing AFCON tournament in South Africa.

A statement to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Monday by corporation, headline sponsor of the stars, the country's senior national football team, quoted  the Chief Executive of GNPC, Nana Boakye Asafu-Adjaye, as  saying 'As we celebrate this victory with the rest of the country, we say AYEKOO,

'We at GNPC are optimistic that the burning desire to recapture the cup, which has eluded us as a nation for 31 years, will spur you on further to bring the trophy home to Ghana',.

It said GNPC acknowledges the team's hard work and promised the stars of their continuous support as they advanced to higher heights of the completion.

The statement urged the stars to continue with their admirable performance exhibited so far in the tournament to earn the team a place in the semi finals, adding, 'There was no doubt that you our gallant stars would make our nation proud'.

It said GNPC was established as a state-owned entity to operate on commercial basis and the corporation was given legal backing through two main statutes that were the Provisional National Defence Law (PNDC Laws 64 and 84).

The statement said GNPC's vision is to become a leading global oil and gas company whose operations have a profound impact on the quality of life of the people of Ghana. GNA
